LLM usage policy
================

The Hare community is opposed to the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) or
generative AI (genAI) in any form to author or assist in authoring changes to
Hare's source code, documentation, security vulnerability analysis, bug
reports, posts on mailing lists, and so on.

Patches written with LLM assistance are not eligible for inclusion in Hare.
Knowingly using genAI to contribute to Hare in spite of this policy is cause
for exclusion from the Hare community.

The Hare community primarily uses English for our discussions, and we are aware
that some people use LLMs to provide automated translations or assist in
spelling and grammar in English as their second language. We pledge to read
your contributions generously, without requiring high English language skills.
If you are uncomfortable participating in English, please feel free to use your
language of choice and allow others to translate it themselves if necessary.

Please note that our objections to generative AI are rooted in a moral and
political analysis of the situation. Use of AI and expressing AI-positive
sentiments even outside of our community is likely to make our community less
enthusiastic about working with you. Do not expect a warm welcome if you rely
on LLMs even outside of your participation in our community.
